  All unusual papers, inks, or sizes larger than 8.5" X 11" vary at additional cost.

 

Requirements for Calligraphy Work

  • Paper Stock:  A calligraphy pen needs to move smoothly across the paper so as not to create skips or blobs of ink, and instead produce an aesthetic flow.  The paper must not be too glossy, nor too rough...nor too absorbant, where the ink will spread.  Please consult with the company you are purchasing the paper from about this, or contact Kathy Chism prior to purchasing your paper stock for direction. ALWAYS purchase 10-15% extra papers and envelopes in case of last minute guest add-ons and human error - rare, but possible!
  • Deposit: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required on all orders to begin work.
  • Rush Orders: Add 40% to the total.
  • Turn Around Time: Based on how many orders are in front of yours, and size of your order - to be discussed with you at the time you order.
  • Address List:  Must be neat, typed, numbered, accurate in spelling, punctuation, and zipcodes, with Mr., Mrs., Ms., etc., included for each person.  Please indicate where not obvious if names are those of children, and whether they are male or female, as many names can be either.  The more information you have spelled out to make it easy to understand, the faster you will have your work finished! 
  • Inner Envelopes: Please clearly list the way you would like each name(s) to be written.
  • Payments: Cash, certified checks, and money orders are accepted.  Please make all money orders and checks out to "Kathy Chism." Orders must be paid in full at the time of pick-up or prior to shipping.
  • Shipping or Mailing: Shipping and delivery costs are in addition to the above pricing.  The final invoice will include these costs. If Kathy is asked to stuff, stamp, seal, and mail envelopes, there is an additional $1.00 fee for each outer envelope.

                                                       

Please understand that calligraphy is an extremely time-consuming art, and custom invitations will also take some time to be printed at your printer.  Start this process as early as possible before your event.

You should have the envelopes and completed address list in your calligrapher's hands at least six weeks, and ideally two months, prior to your event.  This will assist your work being completed in time for you to mail out your invitations and receive responses.
